Draft, pending legal review. The substance below describes how the service actually works, but it has not been checked by a lawyer and some details are still to be supplied.
Someone has died
If you were named as a trusted contact, sign in and you will find the person listed under the people who trusted you, with the option to report their death there. You will be asked for the date and, if you have one, a document such as a death certificate.
Nothing is published on your report alone. The person who wrote the archive is told immediately and has the chance to say it is wrong, a second trusted contact or a proof document is needed, and then a person on our side reviews it. This takes a little time on purpose.
If you were not named as a trusted contact, or you cannot reach the account, write to [contact email to be supplied] and tell us what has happened. We will not be able to give you access to a private archive, but we can explain what is possible.
A death has been reported and it is wrong
If you have had an email saying a death was reported for your account, you can dispute it from your archive — the notice links straight to it. Disputing stops the memorial from being published while a person looks at it.
Do that first, then write to [contact email to be supplied] if you want to tell us more. The dispute is what matters; the email is not required to stop anything.
Your own archive
Most things live in Settings: who you have trusted, what will be shared after your death, a full export of everything you have written, and closing your account.
Anything else
Write to [contact email to be supplied]. A person reads it. We aim to answer within two working days, and sooner when a death is involved.
For questions about your data specifically — a copy of it, correcting it, deleting it — see the privacy policy, which explains what you can do yourself and what to ask us for.
